9th Cir. Orders Federal Govt. to Pay Same-Sex Benefits

Acting as the ultimate decision makers for employees in their district, two 9th Cir. Court of Appeals judges have ordered that two employees of the Court are entitled to health insurance benefit s for their same-sex partners.  However, the Obama administration is in a quandary because the federal Defense of Marriage Act prohibits the federal government from paying such benefits.
