Kindergartner Wins Right to Wear Hair Long

A five year-0ld Needville, Texas child now has the right to wear his wear as he wants to school.  The boy’s father who is part Apache believes, as part of his religion, that cutting the hair is a sacred act, meant only for important life events.  The child’s school prohibits long hair for boys and required the child to wear his hair braided and tucked into his shirt.  The family applied for an exemption prior to the start of the school year, but was still required to follow the policy.
